The Ladies 2s had their 2nd pre-season friendly on Saturday and were looking forward to the 1st Local Derby of the new season. With a number of new players, the 2s were keen to get used to playing together in preparation for the 1st league game on the 19th September.

Both teams struggled to maintain possession early on in the 1st 25 minutes but Hawks were first to settle down and score, with Emily Court finishing beautifully from the top of the D. Oxford responded fairly quickly making the score 1-1.

The 2nd 25 minute period started well from Hawks perspective, creating a number of chances but the Oxford defenders defended really well and the score remained at 1-1. Until Tiny Claire got the ball at the top of the D and got a quick reverse stick shot away, which Lex then deflected past the Oxford GK.

Again Oxford responed very quickly, going down the other end and scoring. This gave Hawks the kick they needed and they began passing the ball around and creating a number of chances. Man of the match April carried out a number of key tackles at the back, as well as pushing forward and getting involved in Hawks attacking opportunities.

With the score at 2-2, Hawks continued to attack but were unable to get the goal they were after. Oxford were able to counter attack, using their speedy forwards to pass the ball round the couple of remaining Hawks defenders and then play the ball into the back of the net.

The score finished 3-2 to Oxford but there was lots of really good stuff from the Ladies 2s and they look forward to building on this performance when they play Southgate 1s on Saturday 5th September.
