Oxford Hawks welcomed National Prem outfit Buckingham to BRN for another pre season friendly, and came out the wrong side of a 4-0 score line but still with plenty of positives. The first half was a scrappy affair with Hawks certainly not playing to their full potential, and they went into half time two nil down after two penalty corner goals. The first was a well executed right post deflection, and the second a comedy of errors from Henri Gordon on the post who managed to kick it into her own goal whilst tripping herself up.
The section half was a much improved performance and Hawks strung together some good passages of play, earning a number of penalty corners of their own. However Buckingham defended well and Hawks were unable to get off the mark, despite Ella Cusack and Storm Sunderland coming close. Buckingham scored twice more to seal the game, the last being a well executed penalty stroke. Plenty of food for thought for coach Andy Clark as they prepare for the Plum Tournament next weekend.
