LADIES 5S RETURN TO FORM AT LAST!

14 March 2015, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 5s 7 - 0 Sonning Ladies 4s

Our defence was strong, with lots of crosses, quick passes and transfers. A second goal followed shortly after from Dizzy, which proved very difficult for Sonning to defend. The team pushed up the pitch well, with great teamwork from Zara and Kally. We had most of the possession for the first half, with any runs from Sonning being intercepted from the strong halfs and defenders. After a strong pass from Dizzy into the D, Maddie was on the P-spot to slap it in. We ended the first half 3-0 up, with Lizzy very tired after playing a fantastic first half!

Sadly Lissy only got to play the first half due to illness, but she still played strongly, helping our team get up the pitch. From the whistle blowing for the second half, the 5’s were straight on the ball. Emily and Lizzy did some great runs towards goal, skilfully getting past several defenders. Our work in the D was very strong, with Chloe and Olivia getting right in there. After Olivia’s hard work, she got a well-deserved goal in open play. For the next five minutes, everyone was working extremely well together as a team, with plenty of strikes on goal. Though it was hard to see, and after a struggle with the goal keeper, Maddie pushed the ball into the goal, with a 5-0 lead.

It was Esther’s first game with the 5’s and she worked very well on the defence line, passing past many of Sonning’s attackers! Emma did some great interceptions and once again we were in the D. We were awarded a penalty corner, with a fantastic goal from Buffy. Our team spirit was high with our fantastic lead of 6-0! Sonning had some skilful players playing half and attack, but Susan, Buffy, Esther and Zara were quick to get back and stop any goals from being scored. Megan was in goal and nothing went past her the whole game!

Emily and Kally distributed the ball well down the left wing, and got it easily into the D. After a dive on the keeper, Lotty got a goal into the far corner, and the team ended the game 7-0. Kally got a well-deserved MOM, after playing some amazing hockey. Overall, the 5’s played really well, with every single player putting all they had into the match!
