With only three matches of the season left, this was a chance to secure promotion. Unfortunately the pressure proved too much and the Ladies 6s could only manage a draw. Witney started aggressively and within minutes a breakaway from one of their forwards meant the home team were 1-0 down. Dette was, however, on the case and with a great strike across the circle by Linda, the ball hit the back board and the score was 1-1. Zoe was decisive as an inner and worked hard to get the ball down the slip, with her sister Tanya running and passing strongly down the line Hawks were soon back in the game with another fantastic goal by Dette. Gail and Mel were kept busy as a half and intercepted a number of breakaway balls by the opposition. Sue was excellent in defence and made some amazing blocks, she and Jan kept the forwards at bay. Millie in goal was on her toes consistently as hits flew towards her in the D. End of the first half it was 2-2.

This quickly changed in the second half by some great play by Giorgia and Tanya who fought well for the ball and beat off the opposition to get the ball in the D. A number of short corners were saved by the Witney goalkeeper but they couldn't keep Dette out and soon it was 3-2. Jessica and Kally worked both sides, time and time again defending our half with great ball skills with Wendy determined not to allow any player through her line. Unfortunately there was another breakaway and the score was equal. The Hawks played relentlessly for the last 5 minutes but even with a final short corner it ended with a draw. The team were disappointed but no one could fault their commitment.

Giorgia was voted player of the match for her excellent play and superb ball skills.
