We visited hosts Wokingham on a beautiful spring day and ran out 5-0 winners. Fortunately for us, but not for Gary as his skiing trip had been cancelled, we at least we turned up with 12. The pitch was a little bouncy and slow and suited those of us who remembered when the glorious game was played on grass. So when we worked out that short passes were the order of the day, we played better. The first half was a relatively tight affair and Boots scored one at the far post and Brett showed why being left handed is an advantage striking a beautiful hit past the keeper, with an upright stick on the reverse. The tempo was a little slow throughout and maybe it was just that the sun was shining for the first time in a while. We added 3 more goals in the second half, Andy poaching a rebound off the keeper at a short corner, Boots slotting after a 1-2 with Ed and then turning provider for Ed who dived full length at the far post to finish well. The defence didn't have a great deal to do but another clean sheet was the result of some good concentration throughout the game. Thanks to Lawrence for a good season in between the sticks, and I am hoping to persuade him to play in at least one more game! An enjoyable game, well umpired and some great support by the Baldock boys. Gerrards Cross up next who have been on a decent run of form.
MOM: Brett, great strike and a good run out in midfield.
