This was always going to be a tough game, and so it proved as soon as the game started, Surbiton played with a relentless high pressing game that, alongside their skills, threatened to engulf the Hawks team. But, against the run of play, Hawks took the lead with an incisive breaking move. Kiran Patel always threatened up front when the HAwks midfield could get hold of the ball.
The Hawks goalie, Archie Spittles made a number of excellent saves in the first half, but the tide was too strong and at half time, 4-2 down was a creditable half way mark, the HAwks goal coming from another break.
In the second half, the game opened up as the Surbiton team couldnt keep up their intense pressing style, and HAwks had opportunities for a third which wpuld have put them within sight of the opposition.
But the HAwks team had run their socks off keeping the Surbiton attack out, and after more saves from Archie, the dam broke and HAwks conceded 3 quick goals. Hawks scored a well deserved third from a great run by Harry Best which he pulled back to the p spot and was converted in a scambled goalmouth.
Everyone put their all in, Charlie Stoker was superlative in defence and joined Archie as the other Hawks Man of the Match.
