Hawks really needed to put another three points on the board, having only picked up one point in 2015. Hawks played well away at Staines earlier in the season leaving with a 4:3 victory. Hawks started quickly, winning a long corner in the first minute. Hawks enjoyed the ball, with measured build ups from the backs through the midfield to the forwards Staines could only chase the ball. MOM Matt Wood had great success down the right flank. A number of D entries failed to bring the elusive goal. Hawks did score only to have the goal disallowed for an infringement in the D. Staines had a few attacks of their own, Phil Hargraves making a sharp save from a PC. Hawks had 2 PC’s of their own, the first being chased down, the second pushed over the bar by the keeper. Half time Hawks 0 Staines 0
Hawks were the dominant side in the second half and deservedly went ahead from a PC. Chris Lim our Aussie medical student who was playing his last game for Hawks before returning to Australia this week manipulated the ball into the goal. Manipulated, by flicking the ball wide of the goal bouncing the ball off two Staines sticks before nutmeging the keeper.Ten minutes to go, Hawks played the game out for a deserved win.
