It was a cold late start for the 4's game today as we took to the pitch against Windsor ladies' 1s. After a tough first half the score stood at 2-1 to Windsor. We wouldn't have even been on the score sheet if it hadn't been for a superb solo run by Rowena following an early release from Caroline Batten. Rowena drove hard into the D, dummied the keeper who went down, calmly went round the keeper and despite her long reach and a quick recovering defender, slotted the ball home.
Hawks came back fighting in the second half with Sophie D scoring her first goal of the season from a short corner. Goal number 3 was also a season first, this time for Vicky Easton who received a great ball from Emily Taylor at the top left of the D and scored just inside the right post. Hawks then secured a penalty flick in the second half after the opposition deflected the ball with her hand in front of the goal. Caz remained composed and slotted the ball in the bottom right hand corner. The final goal came within the last minute of the game where hawks won two consecutive short corners. Vicky scored her second goal of the game during the final short corner. Catherine mis-stopped the injection but managed to get it to an attacker on the right who passed it onto Emma Milne. Emma put Tuesday's 'under the shoulder' training to good practice by driving to the byline and slipping it to Vicky on the P spot who did the rest. The final score was 5-2 to Hawks.
