Another frosty morning with pitch inspections, ended with a solid 5-0 win over Aylesbury 2s. We knew we had to back up last weeks win with another, against a team who haven't conceded many, but have struggled to score goals. Again we were under pressure from the start and Lawrence made a good save to keep Aylesbury out. We began to find our feet and when we kept it simple and moved the ball, the goals came. Three clinical finishes in the first half. Boots neatly deflected in a backhand from Rob and then followed that with an exquisite finish which wrong footed the keeper. Brett then got on the end of a move and finished on the backhand from close range. Aylesbury always posed a threat and looked dangerous on the break, particularly in the second half. They had several short corners which we dealt with well. We continue to play well in patches, but there is a sense we can play with more composure at times. Neil came in for his second game for us and gave a strong performance in the midfield and with Jasper, Tom and Gary dominated that area. Dunners, wearing his beard well (I would keep it definitely, whatever your wife says) distributed well from the back on his first outing. Oh I forgot to say... Boots clinically finished to add another couple of goals in the second half. He reminds me of the Ian Rush in his prime, not his Juventus days.
Thanks to Rob, who now leaves us to head off to Cyprus - so make sure you keep safe and we will see you for the last couple of games of the season.
MOM goes to Lawrence who has kept two clean sheets and made some very important save in the last couple of matches. His save in the last 5 minutes today will be in the highlights on MOTD later. Boots you could say was a little unlucky not to pick up MOM having scored 4, but Lawrence is in your fantasy league team, which on balance is definitely more important!
Lets keep it going next week....
