The Falcons started slowly and were soon under pressure as Haslemere forced two early short corners. The first half was a cagey affair with Haslemere looking the better side due to the Falcons inability to keep the ball. The Falcons grew more into the game and forced some short corners of their own and Phil Dunnill should really have scored when set up by Russell Warner but shot wide. Dave Hughes went closest when his clever deflection from Chris Billington's through ball hit the post with the goalkeeper beaten
The Falcons began the second half with greater purpose and began to carve out chances as Trevor Brothers lifted flick was well saved by the keeper and somehow the follow up shots from Giles Roper was miraculously stopped on the line twice by the Haslemere full back. Angus Fletcher went close and Hughes chose to pass rather than shoot when put through by Russ Warner.
Man of the Match Russell Warner finally broke the deadlock when he slammed a short corner in the bottom left corner. The Falcons seemed to relax and Haslemere who has not really been out of their half since the break broke away and equalised. The Falcons soon retained their lead as Russ Warner doubled his tally with another firmly hit short corner.
Trevor Brothers scored his first ever goal for the Falcons with a fine defection after a pass from Phil Dunnill. It just left time for the youngster Jonny Atkins to make go on a mazy run to find Dunnill whose cross was turned in by Dave Hughes for the fourth goal. A hard fought win for the Falcons but deserved after an improved second half.
