The Ladies 2s were raring to go after the Christmas Break and were looking forward to their first friendly against Marlow 1s.
However Marlow 1s got the better start and seemed quicker and more competitive than the 2s ladies throughout the first 10 minutes. Marlow soon went 1-0 up which provided the kick that Hawks needed to compete and play some better hockey. Kathryn Poulter used her very speedy and skilful ways to get the equaliser.
Marlow immediately put more pressure on the Hawks defense but Megan Magrosky was on great form to maintain the 1-1 scoreline. However Marlow managed to edge in front just before half time.
With the score at 2-1, the Ladies 2's aim was to make better connections and step up the intensity. However this didn't go that well initially as Marlow scored very early on to make the score 3-1. Hawks then stepped up the quality and intensity, maintaining posession all over the pitch and making life difficult for the Marlow. Kathryn and Claire combined really well in the opposition D with Kathryn slotting the ball past the Marlow keeper, making the score 3-2.
Marlow were very quick on the break and created a number of chances in the D but the Hawks defence and GK, Olivia Clark did a great job to keep the score at 3-2.
Just before the final whistle, Marlow scoreed another goal which made it 4-2 at the final whistle. The Ladies 2s look forward to playing Oxford University 1s this Saturday, before returning to the league on the 24th January.
Massive thanks to Molly Warne, Sophie Carter, Megan Magrosky and Olivia Clark who all played 2s this week and played some great hockey/saved a lot of goals!
