A strong squad gathered at Gerrards Cross for an afternoon game. Having won 7-1 in the home fixture, Hawks were determined to get another win in the bag. The game started well for Hawks with some excellent passing play and huge amounts of possession. We were quickly rewarded with a goal by Emma Hammond within the first 10 minutes. The game continued much the same but Hawks struggled to make another break through. We lost a little bit of width and tended to get a bit crowded in the D. Despite that, the opposition had very little play in our defensive half and Hawks got a second goal towards the end of the half, again by Emma Hammond. The second half saw even more Hawks dominance. The first 5-10 minutes was very promising with several further chances of goals from Emma Hammond and Millie but Hawks were unable to convert any to goals. Hawks then struggled to make any breakthroughs mainly due to the opposition packing the D. Susan and Blanche at the back had very little to do all game, and Evelyn in goal didn't even touch the ball. There was lots of excellent link up play between the halves and the forwards. Finally Hawks got a 3 rd goal with a well placed strike from Olivia towards the end of the game. Emma F almost made it 4 with a strike from top D, after an excellent pass from Millie, which narrowly missed the left hand post of the goal with a couple of minutes to go.
Final score was 3-0. Disappointment that the score was not higher but encouragement that we kept a clean sheet and plenty to work on for the rest of the season.
