The Ladies 4s were playing against Oxford 4s who they had comfortably beaten in the first meeting of the season.  We had the regular team and we started the match quite optimistically. The time however the Oxford formation had changed to a diamond one and this caused disruption within our team right from the start as it confused many of our players about who they were marking.

In the first half  we started well with a lot of possession but once Oxford, who were clearly a strengthened team got the ball they managed to break through and score the first goal. Not be outdone we took the push back and Sophie B drove the ball up the pitch before making an attempt on goal which was deflected by an Oxford stick. So 1-1.  Just before the half time whistle Oxford managed to slip a second goal in. After a good team talk at half time we started the second half not downhearted but determined to do better,  However we spent the second half mostly defending although we were able a few time to make some attacking moves.  Sadly despite Olivia great saving,  Oxford managed to score again and the final result was 3-1.  Our marking and communication were below our normal standard and this let us down. We need to improve this before the next match and come back fighting.

Many thanks to Dave Dawes for umpiring and Gabs McErlain for the match report.
