Well it was a lovely sunny morning at BRN and we faced a Windsor side lying at the bottom of the table. They were very vocal and up for the fight - "he's not f...... Moses" won banter of the day as Tim strolled through the middle. We really didn't match them for desire despite all the old cliches rolled out at the beginning and at half time. However we did enough for a 4-2 victory, recovering from 1-0 down, with two clinical strikes at short corners from Boots, a neat deflection from Tom and a good finish from Nathan. Jonny made a couple of important saves at the end to calm nerves.
We have had a great first half to the season but we must remember it is only the first half. Today was a stark reminder that if you don't work as hard as the other team you can find yourself in trouble, so hopefully that will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.
Thanks to MOM Charlie Stoker who has been ever present in the side since the beginning and has been a really consistent force at right half. He is off to play school hockey and we hope to see him intermittently in the second half. He has hardly put a foot wrong all season and we will have to see how long we hang onto him before he moves further up the club.
Thanks to Adrian and Tim for umpiring.
