Hawks made the short trip to the Oxford University pitch for the ‘Town v Gown’ encounter. Oxford Uni are not having the best of seasons but it was Uni who started the stronger dominating the first fifteen minutes of play, taking the lead on 12 minutes.
Hawks slowly got themselves into the game, it was clear on counter attack Uni were vulnerable. Hawks levelled after inform Dan Rhodes back handed the ball from the left to find a sliding MOM Kieran Roche who first timed it passed the Uni keeper. Within minutes Hawks went ahead after Kieran Roche deflected a ball high into the net, this time from a right wing cross. Half time Hawks 2 Uni 1.
The second half saw Hawks sit in defensive mode, Uni despite having the possession rarely troubled the Hawks D. Hawks won the ball but could not keep it often giving the ball away cheaply. Uni pulled one back but it was Hawks who really should of sewn the game up after Kieran Roche rounded the Uni keeper to see the ball roll agonisingly along the Uni goal line. With 5 minutes to go Uni equalled the score after a good bit of individual skill from a Uni forward. On the final whistle Uni won a short corner which was thankfully plucked from the top corner by Jack Biggs on the line. Final score Hawks 3 Oxford Uni 3
