U14 boys beat Wallingford with a hat-trick by Freddie

30 November 2014, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

U14 Boys 4 - 2 Wallingford U14 Boys

Hawks recovered from an early onslaught in the first 10 minutes as they sought to find shape and tempo. Despite excellent work in goal by Aravind they went 1-0 down.

It could easily have been 3 or 4 but the defence of Ed Poole, Adam Byles and Henry Vine kept Hawks in the game.

The introduction of Phil in the middle, saw Amar and skipper Bradley developing cohesion and take back midfield.

The pattern of the game transformed. Freddie came close to equalising when an excellent through pass from Charlie found Freddie who skilfully rounded the keeper but was unable to find the net.

With Ed, Henry, Matthew and Charlie marshalling the defence, the introduction of Kristian and Oscar on the right created space for Phil in the middle to drive Hawks forward.

Freddie and Phil soon converted the chances and Hawks were 2-1 ahead.

The second half saw Hawks continue to assert their presence when in possession but Wallingford still posed a threat with a big hitter at the back coming forward.

Their 2 strong players in the middle combined with a smart move down the right channel which was finished well and left Aravind with no chance.

Wallingford then came into the game but great performances from Ed (who showed the benefit of his new stick!) and Aravind thwarted their efforts.

However Hawks were not to be outdone and Theo on the right wing was found regularly by the midfield of Oscar, Phil and Bradley and began to run riot.

Hawks pressed high and from great interplay involving Theo and Andrew on the flanks, Freddie finished the opportunities with aplomb to secure a hat trick and close out an excellent 4-2 win.
