Hawks travelled to Sonning desperate to improve on the Oxford 2s game the week before, preparation had been ideal with all the team working hard in training.
The first half started well with Hawks dominating possession and testing the keeper early, after winning an early short corner Louis converted it well into the bottom corner. Hawks continued to dominate possession but Sonning were able to hit Hawks the break generating some good saves out of Price. Hawks dominance was then rewarded after Bas Marshall used his jazz hands to weave through the defenders at the short corner and slot the ball passed the keeper. Hawks went into the half time break 2-0 up, playing OK but could improve.
The game continued on a similar path in the second half, Hawks controlling possession but Sonning threatening on the break. Hawks were able to win a penalty stroke after a Sonning defender bought down Will Phillips after he broke through. Will converted the stroke to extend Hawks lead to 3, credit to Sonnning as they continued to attack Hawks. Hawks stood firm until the dying moment of the game when a dubious short corner was given again Hawks. A good save from Price was followed by a bad clearance from him, Price was able to make the ensuing multiple saves, but on the 9th attempt Sonning were able to lift it over the diving Price.
Hawks disappointed not keep a clean sheet but happy to get another 3 points with a better performance too.
