Having safely secured a quarter final spot in the cup, the Under 18 Girls turned their attention to the league with consecutive games against Southgate and Reading. The side comfortably beat Southgate 3 - 0 at home before travelling to Reading last Sunday to play the only other side to have won their opening two league games. In a high standard game, it was Hawks who had the better of the opening exchanges going 2 - 0 up in the first 20 minutes through two reverse stick strikes from Lyndsey White. However, a strong Reading side were not going to be beaten easily and pulled the score level before half time.
The second half was a pleasure to watch with end to end hockey from both teams. A crucial stick save from Issy Atkins in goal kept Reading out just after the break and from then it was Hawks who dominated with a fine passing game and further goals from White (2), Emily Black and Louisa Heathcote. It was a performance to be proud of in all areas of the pitch and a good platform to continue to build on in the second half of the season.
