The Falcons had a slightly changed line up with skipper Dave Hughes starting his first game since September and Dick Heinrich playing his first game of the season. Shane Lovett moved to the middle and man of the match Russ Warner moved to a forward role to give the side better balance.
The Falcons scored first as Dave Hughes deflected Shane Lovett's crash ball just inside the post. Guildford equalised with a well taken goal by their skipper and against the run of play took the lead when a defensive howler allowed the Guildford to score an easy goal. The Falcons equalised just before half time through an opportunistic goal from Steve Griffiths who lifted the ball over the excellent Guildford keeper.
The second half was controlled by the Falcons with Dave Hughes being replaced by Giles Roper and chances were missed, the Falcons were lucky not to be punished as Richard Wilsdon clumsily fouled an attacker on the top of the circle. Bear Smith, sporting Biggles facial hair, did not seem to have the Guildford goal in his sights at first but recovered to smash two goals past the keeper and make the game safe. Guildford pulled a goal back but never really looked like doing more as the Falcons kept possession for the last part of the game.
