The M25 was clear, no sink holes to be seen, a pleasant drive down to our furthest away fixture at Lewes. Hawks were straight out of the blocks and produced ten minutes of fantastic hockey, slick passing with lots of movement, it was only the Lewes keepers kickers preventing Hawks from taking the lead. Lewes weathered the storm, the Lewes speedy winger caused Hawks some problems helping them to gain the upper hand, having several shots on goal and winning several short corners. MOM Phil Hargraves and goal line clearances from Jack Biggs and Will Murch kept the score at parity. The game ebbed and flowed, with ten minutes to go of the half, a driving run and cross from Chris Lim was deflected into the goal by Dom Roche. Within minutes Chris Lim put himself on the scoresheet from close range. Half time Hawks 2 Lewes 0.
With Hawks 2 : 0 up they really had the chance to buckle down and play the passing hockey which has been the feature of the season. This was not to be, both sides failed to value the ball. Hawks were always in the driving sit with their first half advantage and really should added to the tally with break away chances. Lewes won a couple of short corners towards the end of the game which thankfully went wide. Hawks entertain leaders Sevenoaks next week and need to get some consistency back into their game.
