Oxford Hawks travelled to Stourport and came away with nothing to show for it despite a strong performance all over the pitch. Stourport almost scored in the first 30 seconds but Ria Male in the Hawks goal was alert to the danger and saved well. After the early scare Hawks settled into the game and played some good passing hockey and almost took the lead after a great drive down the right from Becky Hibbert. Hibbert crossed to Emily Court who rounded the keeper superbly but her reverse stick shot went agonisingly wide. However a few moments later Hawks took the lead as Kara Haines finished a perfectly executed short corner routine. Stourport responded well and earned a corner of their own on the stroke of half time, and levelled in controversial fashion, as the ball was lifted dangerously into number one runner Bex Oakes and play was allowed to continue and Stourport scored.
Hawks didn't let this affect them and came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, showing even more domination than the first, however they were unable to make the breakthrough. Male was a spectator for the whole game until a late break two minutes from the end when Stourport took the lead completely against the run of play. Hawks pushed for an equaliser and earned a corner just as the final whistle blew, however Stourport defended superbly to hold on for the win.
