Hawks welcomed Old Georgians to a very wet Banbury Road North. Hawks have not enjoyed much success against OG’s over the last few years, unfortunately Hawks failed to reverse the trend. It was a nightmare start for Hawks, Ex England and Great Britain international James Tindall carried the ball from the first whistle winning a free hit just outside the 25 yard line. A quick free hit was taken hitting a Hawks foot in the D. The resultant short corner was scored by Tindall after an elaborate seven pass move before putting the ball in the goal. Within one minute a free hit in the Hawks corner was recycled, hit into the D for Tindall to beat his man and strike a backhand passed the stranded Hargraves. Hawks were on the rocks, unable to keep the ball, OG’s quick passing in midfield was too much for Hawks. OG’s scored two more to make it 4:0 within 12 minutes. At this point and to their great credit Hawks picked themselves off the floor and started to play, creating several chances of their own. Hawks pulled one back from Dan Rhodes, half time Hawks 1 OG’s 4.
The second half was a far closer affair, Hawks having some decent passages of play, but it was OG’s who were the dominant force. OG’s scored a further two goals. With five minutes to go MOM Chris Lim converted a short corner. A disappointing day for Hawks who really felt they did not do themselves justice after giving OG’s a 4 : 0 head start.
