Top of the league and still no goals scored against us, we were determined to keep that title! The rain had started to ease off so we were in a positive mood warming up and looking forward to the game. As seems to be a bit of a habit, we took a little while to get into our stride against a young but skillful Buckingham team with the first half being very compressed and a bit scrappy. The rain was slowly drawing in but we kept going and were rewarded with two goals before half time.

After a half time team talk, we began to play much better hockey, spreading out and linking up some nice passes. The first goal of the second half came within a few minutes and then they just kept coming. Before we knew it we were 4,5,6-0 up. Dette, the clubs top goal scorer, added to her total with 4 goals, matched by Sarah and Jenny added another for good measure. It could have been even more but for a disallowed goal from our man of the match, Claire, and Becky hitting the post. We were fairly sure of the win but still wanted our clean sheet so a short corner in the closing stages of the match was nerve-wracking. A cracking run out and defence by Jessica prevented a goal, we had no need to worry  and then she carried on running through several Buckingham players to break towards their D only to be called back and the final whistle blew at Hawks 9, Buckingham 0.

We're off to Sonning next week., let's see if the fantastic run can continue!
