Hawks were looking to carry on the winning streak away to Staines. After a gentle stroll from the clubhouse and a short warm up on the pitch the game began. Hawks immediately took control of the game enjoying lots of possession, with Staines chasing the ball it did not take long for Hawks to go into the lead, Chris Lim firing the ball into the D for Kit Cutter to finish. Hawks should of and deserved to go further ahead, creating several chances but unable to get past the inform Staines keeper. Against the run of play Staines won a short corner which they duly despatched. Hawks played the ball stick to stick with confidence, with ten minutes to go of the first half Chris Lim picked the ball up in the Staines 25 wobbled past a couple of defenders and unleashed a bobbler into the corner. Half time Hawks 2 Staines 1.
Hawks continued the second half where they left off with plenty of movement off the ball and passing with confidence but could not extend the lead. Staines kept up their dogged resistance and were rewarded with an equaliser. Hawks took the sucker punch and showed great character by going ahead with a goal from George Creed. At this stage the game went a little pear shaped, a sprinkling of yellow cards resulted with Hawks playing with 8,9,10 and eventually 11 on the pitch. In one of those phases with 10 Hawks players on the pitch a reverse stick cross from skipper Roche was deflected in by MOM Kit Cutter. Five mins to go, the game looked safe however with Hawks a man down Staines won a second corner and scored. Hawks played the game out for well deserved win.
