With no sign of the unrest that Lookalike Shirley (new name KP) could have caused with his "tiddlywinks gate" (see last weeks match report) the Mens 6's squad produced a typically robust home performance and won 3-1 in an enjoyable game of hockey.

The Wycombe side were young and skilful, and the opening exchanges were even.

Hawks welcomed back Sumser, Bowden, Hack and Skipper Spittles, and were enhanced by Pablo and Crookie.

As ever the ex Tiddly winks team passed well in places and made headway when they did, only to be let down by trying to force the jackpot winning pass, instead of just going for the £10 pass...

the led was taken once HAwks had taken more control of the game, with a typical Van Persie (darby) tap in of at least 6 inches from a pass by Steve Elliott.

The Wycombe team came back with a quick attack and facing a one on one, keeper Spittles jnr made a brave (some would say stupid) interception head first on the edge of his D which resulted in a short as the ball hit his body...

Relieved to still have his keeper on the park, Skipper Spittles should have remembered the last time they had faced this team's short corner routine, but he didnt, and the Wycombe youth put together a slick 4 pass routine that saw Archie beaten.

1-1 and all to play for. Half time and it was going to be all about the next goal.

And what a goal it was. Kevin Pietersen at his sublime best - couldn't have been Shirley or his lookalike  - that's for sure! Lookalike took the ball on the edge of the D, quite close to the byline, and rocketed a shot into the top left hand corner.

In the post match analysis, the watching Chair was still "amazed" and was quite clearly in shock. Lets hope the shock will have sorted his phantom foot injury and get him back on the hockey field.....

Back to the game, and Hawks then started producing some excellent hockey with man of the match Affie Nawaz producing stick skills suitable for a halloween party....

The silky hockey was interspersed with some spirited play by the Wycombe side, and Archie Spittles had to make some telling saves to keep Hawks in the lead. In truth, everyone played well, and the third goal killed off the oppo. Rob McGrigor who had put in an energetic shift played a beautiful ball in for Persie to score from quite a distance for him - at least 12 inches...

The Jekyll and Hide team continues then, 100% at home and utterly hopeless away - lets hope the prospect of rivals Oxford next week seems more lke a home game.

Hutts and Dave - many thanks again for blowing.
