Ladies 4s score 4 against Windsor and keep a clean sheet!

25 October 2014, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 4s 4 - 0 Windsor Ladies 1s

With the team keen to build on last weeks second half performance spirits were high. The whistle blew and we were off; Windsor were definitely on the back foot. Opportunities followed but we struggled to convert. It wasn't long until the fluidity of play from our previous match was a distant memory and more of a 'ping-pong' style of play had been adopted.... Neither pretty nor effective!

With Catherine's halftime encouragement, "come on ladies, we want to enjoy our night out and half term - everyone please pull your socks up", we took the game to Windsor. Eventually, after some slick passing from the defence, and Caz's determination to ride the tackles, our efforts paid off. Caz struck the ball toward goal. With the keeper only managing to slow the shot down, Gabs made the vital touch that sent the ball into the net. The relief was clear to see... flowing, passing Hockey was restored.

With Windsor looking tired, opportunity for Caz and Caroline to distribute from the midfield opened up and Hawks capitalised from both sides of the pitch.

Soon after, Rowena didn't falter when her initial goal-ward connection didn't come off. She calmly found Pheobe who, without hesitation, found the net.

Rebecca was rewarded for all her tireless effort on the wings, as a pinpoint cross was cooly met by Rowena and slotted away.

Phoebe cemented the win. Showing off her slick skills and silky footwork, she skipped past the keeper who had flown out to greet her at the top of the D. Composed and confident she found a gap between a multitude of defenders and cooly passed the ball into the goal. 4-0 :-)

Thanks to Rory and Geoff for their umpiring.

Thanks to Vicky for the cakes and nobody expected icecream with it!
