Oxford Hawks Men’s 5th team cantered to a comfortable 2-0 win against Reading 3’s. The score could easily have been more with a bit more luck in front of goal, as the Hawks spent much of the match in Reading’s half frequently getting the ball into dangerous areas.
They started the match well, immediately taking control and looking the much more likely team to score. The Hawks had a goal disallowed due to the strike being outside the D, and the own-goal rule no longer being enforced. However, they soon had a goal on the board when their dominance paid off and debutant Cameron Saint scored a simple finish. Early in the second half the Hawks deservedly extended their lead thanks to a fantastic deflection from Adam Bentley. The rest of the match continued in the same fashion, with the Reading goalkeeper busy, and the away side only looking dangerous on the counter-attack. In the end, the Hawks were able to come off the pitch proud of their solid performance and clean sheet, perhaps wondering how they didn't manage to score more.
