It was a rather damp and humid morning and an early start to the furthest club in our league. Even when the game started we hadn’t properly woken up ! We made a positive start with lots of ball play but as anticipated Bracknell proved to be challenging as they had strong defence and the ability to make quick breakthroughs. It took us some time to settle down and the first half saw too much poor passing and poor formation. After a number of futile attempts on goal – some wide and some saved by a strong keeper, Emma H managed to get a lovely goal. The second half saw more goal action with particularly strong play by our inners Emma M and Chloe plus Jen on the forward line whose speed enabled many passes into the D. While many shots on goal were wide or saved Buffy got a great strike from a penalty corner and Lotty managed to pop one in around the keeper. Bracknell responded with a goal from one of the few short penalty corners we conceded. As in previous matches we flagged in the last ten minutes and Bracknell took advantage of this and pushed us hard on the defence side. There was a dreadful 5 minutes where our defence went awry and yours truly in particular did possibly the worst pass (slow, across the D) of the season which was pounced on by Bracknell though luckily I managed to retrieve the sitation so as to avoid the wrath of Alex in goal ! In the last few minutes we got things back on track enabling Emma to put the a composed goal away. Most of the MoM nominations went to the junior attackers with Jen topping the board !. Thanks to Emma F for helping us out and a special mention to half back Zara, who was her consistently reliant self and made some great tackles and clearances. We remain at the top of the league but we have four challenging matches approaching !
