We travelled to Aylesbury Vale Academy to play Aylesbury 2’s which highlighted that the government has been spending some money on secondary education, just not where my kids go to school. On the back of a disappointing loss last week we needed a win above all else. The first half was a disjointed affair and we didn’t really settle into a rhythm and still had some early season rust. Andy Argyle however had other ideas, put on his invisibility cloak and preceded to run through from left half and slot home. Not sure where their defence was, but frankly ….. In the second half we started brightly and were given a dubious deflection for the second goal. To be fair their skipper did confirm the goal with the umpire. We controlled the game more and began to pass and move more like a team. Andy then donned his cloak again and ran a full 70 yards with the ball before unselfishly finding Rob at the far post to slot home. Julian Easterbrook began to exert his influence in the game and we created some good chances. Tom had a match of two halves, and having been introduced to his hockey stick at half time, began to play like we know he can and he added another while being upended by the keeper. So a 4-0 victory and it feels like we are beginning to gel as a team and get to know each other a little more each week. If we practice some shorts we might score one of those as well. Man of the match goes to Harry.
