Ladies 5s continue the season well

Ladies' 5s 6 - 0 Wycombe Ladies 4s

2 weeks ago we were faced with a muggy September day, yet this time it was pouring with rain, leaving Emily and Olivia to question "We can't really play in the rain can we? Surely the match will be called off"...!

Only a win was going to be good enough this week and so we pushed hard from the start. Within minutes Emma crossed the ball and it was beautifully deflected in by Linda, which seems to be becoming a bit of a habit! Lots of positive play and strong tackles followed and Emma went on to score 2 more great goals, with one great shot going into the top left hand corner, putting us 3-0 up at half time.

Wycombe came back strong in the second half and unexpectedly caught us off guard a couple of times. Determined not to let us slip, Evelyn, Dizzy and Mel were solid at the back and Buffy held the middle, allowing us to push forward and win a short. Although not a successful first strike, Emma was on the rebound to make it 3-0, giving her a hatrick...and yet she still wasn't satisfied so went on to score again!

As Wycombe grew tired and increasingly irritated, we didn't give up and Lottie dribbled to the baseline before releasing a strong strike to put us 6-0 up.

Special mention to Row who had her Ladies hockey debut on Saturday and Chloe who had hers the week before, who both worked tirelessly and played brilliantly. Despite Emma's 4 goals, man of the match went to Olivia who showed real skill and determination when attacking and defending, making her invaluable to the team.

With dreams of promotion in our minds and three players in the Club's top scorers, the 5s are out for another 3 points when we play Wallingford at home next week.
