Oxford Hawks made the short journey to Cheltenham and were quick out of the blocks putting the opposition under huge pressure right from the off. Hie Sawyer and Kara Haines were both close to opening the scoring, but they had to wait until their first penalty corner before breaking the deadlock. A simple routine ended up with a clean Lucy Stewart finish for a well deserved lead. Hawks doubled their lead minutes later when Haines used her skill and strength down the left, and played a pinpoint cross to the waiting Katie Hewitt on the penalty spot, who turned and buried the ball into the corner of goal. However Hawks then stepped off the gas, and allowed Cheltenham back into the game when their centre mid drove past a number of Hawks players before finding the centre forward who finished well with her first touch.
In the second half Hawks upped the pace and controlled the majority of possession. However they had to wait for 15 minutes before extending their lead when Caro Harris drove home a penalty corner strike. Cheltenham responded well creating a few opportunities, but nothing that goalkeeper Ria Male couldn't handle. Right at the death a beautiful move from Haines to Becky Hibbert found Sawyer running in on goal but a good save from the keeper kept the score 3-1 for a well earned three points, preserving Hawks' unbeaten record in the league.
