Falcons Bear all in first league match against Southampton Vets
27 September 2014, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Top)
Falcons 5 - 3 Southampton Cockburns
The Falcons scored a deserved win against Southampton Cockburns at Banbury Road North by 5 goals to 3 to kick off their league campaign in style. The Bear led the way with two deflected short corners to cancel out an early well worked goal by the Cockburns. Phil Dunnill went close hitting the wrong side of the post, the score was 2 -1 at half time.
The Cockburns perservered and got themselves back in the game as the Falcons lost their focus and conceded short corners. Bear Smith smashed a third short corner in and took advantage of a rebound from the hard worked visitor's keeper to score a clever goal. He then finished the game from a short corner as he took aim as the Cockburns backed off, and who would blame them? The visitors pulled a goal back in time added on and proceded to outlast the Falcons in the post match warm down - very impressive!
