The Ladies’ 6th team had their first league game on Saturday afternoon and after a motivating team talk from the Captains the match started well with a goal from Dette putting them ahead by 1-0. Confidence was rising with Jessica working hard up the right wing and the whole team benefitted from clear instructions coming from our 2 guest team members this week in the form of Jane Chilvers and Sophie Dawes.  There was some lovely play from Maddie and Lizzy who linked the midfield to the attack well and meanwhile Jan, Jane and Deborah were letting nothing through the defence.

Into the second half and Dette completed an impressive hat trick with Sophie setting her up nicely on more than one occasion. Megan reliably saved a couple of shots on goal but never really looked remotely flustered. Not to be outdone by her own team Captain Becky decided to show everyone who is the boss with a stunning goal from the back of the D and promptly subbed herself off. A satisfying 4-0 win and the team are looking forward to the next game. Sophie Dawes was the worthy man-of-the-match and the delicious cake made by members of the Strickland family was much enjoyed by all after the game.
