Ladies' 6s in 8-1 win. Not a bad start to the season!

Ladies' 6s 8 - 1 Oxford Ladies 6s
At the start of the week we did not have enough for a team by Saturday afternoon we had sixteen! But Captain Becky Madden-Waite had it all in hand.
We started well and for most of the first half our defence had little to do. Caroline Coates started the scoring by taking the ball into the D and scooping it into the goal. Dette Wagerfield was in fine form and scored twice in the first half. Chloe Scragg, Rachel Potter and Kate Fagan got the other goals. We finished the half 6-0 ahead.
Oxford rallied after half time and for a time the play was much more even. Then Dette got 2 more goals. In the last 5 minutes Oxford were awarded a penalty corner which they converted. So the final score was 8-1 to us. Not a bad start to the season!
Bella Dawes was voted player of the match for her skills and tireless work on the pitch. She was always there when you needed someone in the middle.
Thanks to Gail Norbury for umpiring and Olivia Strickland for managing the substitutions.
