Men's 3s 9 - 0 South Bucks Men's 1s

Every season seems a long one by the time you get to the end of March, under normal circumstances you may be involved in a battle for promotion or a war to stay up. Not this side, oh no, we had far bigger fish to fry. The 3rd XI started the season very well and it was clear that they would take a lot of beating, as the year wore on they set an achievable target of winning the league. A task made difficult by the mere fact they has been promoted the year before. Once the team had accepted this challenge with relish and got to Xmas with 100% record the league was almost won. So a new target was set, Boots and Big Dog looked into the players eyes and said, it is quite simple, we go through the whole season with a 100% record, what a ridiculous statement, it could never happen could it ?? ....... well no it couldn't but only because High Wycombe played their 1st XI against us and bugger me we should have won that as well but a draw was ok as it maintained the unbeaten record. So the very slightly reduced target was to remain unbeaten for the season, and so the story ends, played 22, won 21 drawn 1. An amazing season made from players willing to run through walls for each other, true team spirit and a will to win that other clubs could only aspire to. My special  thanks go out to Boots for being my partner in crime and a damn fine player,  Bas Marshall who has simply been magnificent this year and to Torbjorn Turland who is taking over from me and has a pretty tough act to follow, promotion in consecutive seasons. But knowing this side, there is every chance that they will go again next season.
