Apologies for the delay in this penultimate match report for the Men's 5's. The aftertaste of a bad tempered game obviously put me off writing it!
Watching the game in front of us at RAF Halton, we were struck by the weak umpiring and the bad mouthed game - obviously a common occurrence in this part of the hockey world as our game was marred by similar behaviour which was more in tune with a Sunday football match rather than a game of league 6 Men's Hockey.
Enough of the pontificating, it didn't help that we were'nt really at the races against a decent Aylesbury side, and despite the valiant efforts of Christian VE and Ashley Robbins in the middle of the park, we lost a game that we could have won had we been on the money.
Rich Venables also got a mention in dispatches for his effort, but it probably says it all, that Archie Spittles got his 5th man of the match award of the season for his goal keeping (and he wasnt in the Fantasy League at all!!!)
Charles Van Persie scored the HAwks goal from his normal distance of 12 inches.
