There was a lot riding on the Ladies 2s final game against Sonning on Saturday. With a 2 point lead, the 2s had to win this game to win the league and gain promotion for the second year in a row!

The 2s were understandably nervous when the game began and took a wee while to get going. With Sonning carrying out their half court press, Georgia Perkins, Sally Clark, Vicky Martin and Laura Scragg worked really well together to build up the attacking opportunities. It didn't take long to break the deadlock with Emily Court using her skilful ways to get the ball past the Sonning keeper.

With the score at 1-0, the 2s began to relax and pass the ball around with more confidence. The next goal came about due to great composure from Kasey Butler in the D. Kasey then passed the ball to Kara Kerr who struck the ball from the top of the D, into the bottom left hand corner.

Sonning created a number of attacking opportunities but goalkeeper, Linda Billington and the 2s defence were on hand to deny any goals for the opposition. Hawks maintained possession with Lucy Millington showing some great skills and vision in the final third. The 3rd goal for Hawks was converted by Jo Tolson after some great skills from Anna Clark, while minutes later, the 4th goal was scored by Zoe Lamb.

The final goal came from a great ball into the D from Molly Warne, where Jo was waiting to deflect the ball past the Sonning goalkeeper. The game finished 5-0 with the Ladies 2s working together and playing some lovely hockey up until the final whistle.

It has been an amazing season for the Ladies 2s with everyone in the squad contributing massively throughout the year. Huge thanks to Andy Warne, Andy Clark, Nathan Monk and Lisa Scragg for all their great coaching and support throughout the season. We couldn't have done it without you all. Looking forward to next season!
