Hawks travelled to lowly Barnes keen to get back to winning ways, however on a very sticky pitch they did not start well, with Barnes throwing everything at them. However with a combination of some outstanding saves from goalkeeper Jess Hudson, and some poor finishing from the home side, the score remained goalless. Hawks settled eventually and started to link well all over the pitch, and won a corner after good work from Maisie Robertson. Despite the first effort being well saved, Bex Oakes was on hand to volley the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-0. Hawks put pressure on Barnes straight after the restart, forcing them into an error on the right. Charlotte Crampton-Smith capitalised and drove at pace down the right, crossing perfectly for Katie Hewitt for a simple tap-in.
In the second half, Hawks started well winning more corners but could not add to their tally. After a while the momentum shifted back to Barnes who put the Hawks defence under a lot of pressure, however nothing was able to get past the formidable Hudson between the sticks. The clock ran down, giving Hawks the three points, as they now look forward to their last game of the season against Firebrands on Saturday.
