This was the proverbial "game of two halves"! In the first half, HAwks barely got out of their half against a very well organised and skillful Marlow. That it was only 1-0 at half time, was down to the work rate of the whole team, but not much of the Hawks hockey was very pretty. Marlow scored via a fast slap into the D - the HAwks keeper with no chance of the deflection.
After a half time chat, the team came out much more focused, and the passes started to flow, and slowly, the Marlow early dominance was replaced with some vibrant attacking hockey from Hawks. This was rewarded with a brilliant goal passed out from the back, and then the game got tense, and in truth, very niggly.
Cards were shown to players from both sides, but it was the Hawks side who kept their belief, and scored the vital second to give them victory.
This was won by a Hawks team who were under the cosh, but it was their spirit and willingness to graft that got them through at the end.
Man of the match Toby MacLachlan for his leading by example, and a great bit of skill to make the first goal.
