Oxford Hawks played their second match of the weekend against top of the table Buckingham, keen to continue their good run of form. They started well, edging the possession in the first fifteen minutes but good defending from the home side prevented Hawks from creating any clear cut chances. Buckingham pressed well and were clinical with their short corners, scoring three in quick succession to leave an uphill struggle for Hawks to get anything from the game.
This didn't dampen Hawks spirits however and they came out strong in the second half, playing calm and composed hockey to keep Buckingham at bay. Jess Hudson made some outstanding saves in the Hawks goal and Kirsty Chapman's tackles were perfectly timed, ensuring that Buckingham didn't extend their lead. However moments from the end they did break through from another short corner to make the score 4-0 to the home side.
