U14 Boys vs Marlow November 2011
13 November 2011, 12:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
U14 Boys 2 - 1 Marlow U14 Boys
U14’s Boys this weekend played their first cup matches. In this age group the competition is a round robin league split into divisions then a regional finals day with the top 8 teams competing. This competition does not progress to a national finals day. The two match dates are played as triangular session with 3 teams playing two matches.
As home team we played first against Marlow. Oxford Hawks took an early lead from a well struck short corner by Dom MacLauchlan after 3 minutes. Oxford Hawks then played some positive hockey but before half time the tide turned and Marlow came back into the game. Despite some solid defensive moves the team got caught in the 19th minute when Marlow equalised.
The second half was end to end with chances missed by both teams. Hawks struggled to get the finish required to get the winning goal. Towards the end of the match a break away move from Dom finally found the back of the goal. Hawks then fought to retain the lead and ended with a winning result. This was a great way to go into the break before the second match.
