Falcons vs Woking September 2011
24 September 2011, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Falcons 7 - 1 Woking Pitts
The Falcons won their last friendly before the league season by 7 goals to 1 against Woking Pitts the Elder in a fairly one sided game at Banbury Road North. Peter Bennett opened the scoring as a shot was stopped by the Woking keeper and returned with interest with a firm shot from Peter. Woking, despite being under the cosh, equalised with a clever goal turned past Richard Wilsdon with a reverse stick shot.
The Falcons soon regained the lead when Mark Crampton-Smith's firm shot somehow went under the talkative Woking keeper. Dave Hughes deflected in a Crampton- Smith cross shot and Peter Bennet slipped the ball into an empty net after Dave Hughes' clever pass put him through. Steve Griffiths converted a stroke into the top corner after Peter Bennett's goal bound shot was stopped by a Woking chest.
The second half was more of the same with Angus Fletcher playing a bit further forward and Chris Billington dominating in the centre of midfield. Angus was playing his first game for 6 years and showed that the silky skills still remained and was unlucky not to score. The Falcons only scored 2 goals in the second half but the were both of high quality and the first was tapped in by Peter Bennett after a clever interchange with Dave Hughes finished with Dave squaring for Peter to score his 3rd and deserved hat trick. A good move involving Mark Crampton-Smith and Peter was finished by Mark for his second goal.
Harder stuff next week as the league starts at home against Poly who beat the Falcons last year in one of their two defeats in winning the league.
