Ladies 5th XI vs Phoenix & Ranelagh October 2011

We turned up to play against Phoenix and Ranelagh with a small army of 15 players. We started strongly with some lovely passing through out the forward and mid line. Had a few early chances but they came and went. Against the run of play P and R got the first goal. We kept working hard, with some brilliant work form the defence (Purdy, Lotty, Wendy, Lizzie and Laura) and some very strong marking. Just before half time Dette got herself a goal. Exactly what we deserved after what became quite scrappy as P and R started to get frustrated.

With the half time talk done, we knew what we needed to do. P and R hesitated on their push back. Buffy intercepted the ball and found herself one on one with the keeper. The goal was scored and that certainly settled us down. With yet more good positive defending by the defenders (plus Rachel) and a lot of running from the mids (Aoife, Bella, Emma, Josie and Jacqui) we found ourselves in front of goal on several more occasions. P and R decided to pile all 10 of their players within our half. Somehow Ellie got the ball through at least 5 players and got us the third goal. Some lovely passing by the forwards (Ellie, Buffy, Bethany and Dette), P and R started to struggle to even get hold of the ball and soon the fouls began to follow!! Final whistle came and gave us yet another brilliant win!!

Big well done to Ellie and Rachael for getting MOM.
