Men's 1st XI vs Epsom November 2011
05 November 2011
Men's 1s 4 - 1 Epsom Men's 1s
Hawks were looking to go 2 points better than last year when they left Epsom squandering a two goal lead. Confident Hawks started brightly, the first 10 minutes was all Hawks, passing freely and creating several chances, Epsom had no answer to the speed and movement. Hawks dominance was rewarded after 15 mins with a goal scored by Simon Buckingham. Epsom countered and scored a well worked short corner, Hawks soon regained the lead after King Cresswell converted a short corner. Half time Hawks 2 Epsom 1.
The second half was more even, Epsom sharing possession but not really threatening the Hawks D. Hawks had several chances and should have gone 3 : 0 up with far post tap in which went wide. Hawks did go further ahead after a neat passing move left man of the match Adam LePage, one on one with the keeper, he calmly beat the keeper and slipped the ball into an empty goal. With 5 minutes to go Adam scored his second with a blistering flick into the corner from a short corner. A workmanlike performance from the team that takes them to a top of the table clash next week against West Hampstead.
