Introduction

Welcome to Oxford Hawks Fantasy League 2011-2012. This is the fifth year in a row that we are running a fantasy league and giving you the opportunity to show how good a manager you are. Plus there are prizes to be won!

Again, there is no cost to enter. But there are cash prizes!

Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the most points as follows:
1st place: £40
2nd place: £20
3rd place: £10

Additionally, there are prizes for players - the players who finish with the highest points/price ratio, the most points overall, and the most points in a single game will each win prizes. (Player prices have been created based on last season’s results and games so far this season).

This year, again by popular demand, you may optionally choose one or two substitutes. The total team budget is fixed; therefore if you choose to have a substitute or two, you will have less to spend per player. So if you don’t want to worry about when or if to make substitutions, you don’t have to, just pick your best 11 players and have more to spend.

The rules of the fantasy league are:

  1. Teams must contain a maximum of 6 players of one sex, excepting any substitutes.
  2. Teams must contain a maximum of two players from any one team.
  3. Teams must consist of a goalkeeper plus either:
    1. 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 attackers,
    2. 3 defenders, 4 midfielders and 3 attackers or
    3. 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 attackers
  4. Teams may optionally contain 1 or 2 substitutes of any position, in which case there is a maximum of 7 players of one sex.
  5. The total price of all of players in each team must be less than or equal to £100.
  6. Substitutes can only be exchanged during two substitution ‘windows’, 5th‑10th December and 13th‑18th February, and for a player of the same position.
  7. Fantasy players can pick themselves, but are not obliged to.
  8. Entry is open to anyone, not just members of Oxford Hawks.
  9. One team per person may be entered.
  10. All team entries must be received by Friday 25th November.

How to Enter:

To enter a team, just email fantasyleague@oxfordhawks.co.uk with:

  • The name you want to call your fantasy league team
  • Your name
  • The names of the eleven players you have chosen, plus the names of any substitute players (please indicate which players are starting off as substitutes)

It’s that easy, and you could win £40!

Points Scoring

Players in your team score points as follows:

  1. For playing in all or part of a game, all players score +5
  2. The goal difference of the game is added to the player’s score.
  3. For scoring a goal:
    1. Goalkeepers score +8
    2. Defenders score +5
    3. Midfielders score +4
    4. Attackers score +3
  4. Additional bonus for scoring a hat-trick: +3
  5. For keeping a clean sheet, Goalkeepers and Defenders score +5, Midfielders score +1
  6. For receiving a green card: -1
  7. For receiving a yellow card: -3
  8. For receiving a red card: -10
  9. For being nominated player of the match: +7
  10. For missing a penalty stroke: -3
  11. For saving a penalty stroke: +3

All substitute players score zero points for your team during the time they are substitutes.

Eligibility for scoring points:

  • Thirteen fixtures for each team have been selected to participate in the fantasy league. These fixtures are listed below.
  • Players score points when playing in one of the participating fixtures for their designated team.
  • Players who miss one of the fixtures for their designated team but play for another team in a participating fixture on the same day will score points for that team. Playing in another fixture as well as the one for their team will not generate extra points, neither will playing in a fixture for another team on a day when the player’s designated team does not have a fixture.
  • Players score points according to the positions they have been given, regardless of where they actually play during a match.
  • If a fixture is postponed then the rearranged fixture will be substituted into the fantasy league in place of the postponed fixture.
  • If a fixture is cancelled as a result of a walkover then all players who would otherwise have played in the fixture will be credited with the points resulting from participation in that fixture with the walkover score, although no player will be credited with scoring the goals in case of a walkover in favour of the Hawks team.
