Fantasy League 2007-2008

Week 10 - Final Score!

It’s all over!! Have a look at the team score and player score pages to see where you ended up!

Kathryn Poulter takes the big prize as her “Sleepless Nights” have held off a late push from Henry Manuel’s “Hen’s Hawks”, who recorded the highest score of the week with 83 points. That was mainly thanks to having the high scoring Tim Blackburn and Hanniah Brooks in his side. However Kathryn’s team had built up too large a lead, so if you are : Evelyn Hargraves, Mark Biggs, Jo Hopkins, Neil Jones, Ed Baldock, Chris Billington, Izzy Landon, Beth Warne, Ted Bennett, Amy Bryant or Kelly Fogden – grab Kathryn in the bar and make her buy you a drink!

Linda Phillips “The Hayseeds” was the biggest mover of the week, going up 9 places, mainly thanks to Laura Carter’s 18 points in the Ladies 4s 3-2 win. At the wrong end of the table, the wooden spoon goes to the Madden-Waite’s, who have been unchallenged in 67th since week 5!

On the individual front, it went down to the wire! However Tony Silman’s hat-trick in the Fledglings 6-0 win just wasn’t quite enough, as Sue Clark has finally come out on top. Sue is just two points ahead of Tony, who was the highest scorer of the week with 27, tied with Tim Blackburn. The biggest mover was Laura Carter, who has jumped a massive 47 places. Biggest slider was Karl Hack who has dropped 15 places after the Mens 4s loss this week.

That brings this year’s Fantasy League to a close but don’t worry - Fantasy League will return next season bigger and better than ever before!

Week 9

Well, with only this weekend coming left to score points, there is no change at the top! Kathryn Poulter’s “Sleepless Nights” remains in pole position, 51 points ahead of Henry Manuel’s “Hen’s Hawks”. Is that too large a gap to close? The Madden-Waite’s “Jessica’s Angels” remain rooted to the bottom, 57 points adrift of Katherine Hardstone’s “Last Minute Dash” which has slowly slipped into second last. The biggest team score of the week belongs to Sjouke Tolsma’s “The Cowboys” with 67 points, mainly thanks to Man of the Match awards for Nathan Monk, Neil Jones, Evelyn Hargraves and Emma Cragg. The biggest mover was “The Hamilton-Martin’s friend and high risk XI”, going up 10 places to 26th. In the opposite direction Chris Blackburn’s “Hakuna Matata” and Andy Brown’s “Whoop Whoop” had the worst week on record, only picking up 27 points. Vicky Newton’s “Newties’ Cuties” was the biggest slider, dropping 10 places to 43rd.

On the individual front, the Fledglings loss and the Ladies 2s clean sheet victory has meant Sue Clark has stormed ahead, with 119 points, with Wendy Gundry just behind with 114. Katie Merrick has overtaken the Fledglings duo of Silman and Biggs (T.) with 108 points to sit in 3rd place. The biggest scorer of the week was Rachel Young, with 18 points from the Ladies 2s win, with a goal and a MOM award. Emma Cragg from the Ladies 3s has jumped the most places, moving 29 spots up to 83rd after 13 points (incl MOM) from their 2-1 win at the weekend.

On the Value for Money front there is no change, with Giles Roper and Graham Francis still holding the 1 and 2 spot.

Week 8

Well, no change at the top! Kathryn Poulter’s “Sleepless Nights” have in fact extended their lead at the top, after Drew’s “Blackburn’s Barnacles”, and Henry Manuel’s “Hen’s Hawks” had relatively poor weeks. “Jessica’s Angels” are still rooted to the bottom, a huge 52 points adrift of “Kimmy’s Team of Legends”. Biggest mover (in the right direction) was John Kaluza’s “The Unfeasibles”, who not only moved the most positions but also had the highest score of the week, 74 points. This was down to consistent good scoring from all his players, and also 3 Man of the Match awards, from Mike Hughes, Anna Clark and Rob Dunnill. On the individual front, Rob’s 14 points have moved him into having positive points for the first time this season! Back on the team front – the biggest slider this week was Lauren Thomas’s “Valiant Warriors” who have slipped 10 places, whilst the lowest scorer of the week is Charlie Bennett’s “The Mighty Boosh” – with only 21 points picked up. In fact only one of Charlie’s players, Neil Jones, scored more than 4 points for him!

Back on the individual front – things have hotted up…….we have a change at the top! The Fledglings slip up combined with the Ladies 2s continued winning ways have meant that Sue Clark and Wendy Gundry now jointly top the leaderboard! Apologies to the rest of the Clark household. Sue and Wendy are tied on 106 points, with the Fledglings duo of Tony Silman and Tom Biggs just one point behind, on 105. In fact the top ten is populated solely by Fledglings and Ladies 2s….! Biggest scorer of the week was Dan Robins, with 19 points thanks to his hat-trick in the Mens 3s win over Aylesbury.

On the Value for Money table – Giles Roper and Graham Francis still hold the 1st and 2nd spot, with Giles scoring 26.3 points per pound compared to Grimey’s 20.5. Mike Kentfield, Geoff Paver and Kelly Fogden complete the top 5.
